For my multitrack remix, I sampled the choir from my orchestral mix, which I then wrote a full song around. After coming up with a chord progression on guitar that fit, I wrote the lyrics for the entire song. After the song was written, I did a deep-dive into the production within Logic Pro X, which is where I programmed drums, strings, and every other instrument in the song. I recorded guitars myself in the SSL tracking room and vocals in my bedroom with a Rode NT1. Once finished with the production, I exported the stems and mixed the song within Pro Tools. Some processing, such as the vocal chain, was printed into the stems after temp-mixing while working on production. While creating music was what brought me to the RAT program, I don’t make music anymore so this was a fun exercise in seeing how far I’ve come since starting school.
